Online
retailer ShopBop has just unveiled their new collaboration collection with New
York based fitness company SoulCycle. The collection of workout clothes
includes printed t-shirts, joggers, trainers, beanies and sweaters. The designs
will be available through both Shopbop and the SoulCycle studio in NYC with
pieces ranging from $48 - $130.
One
of the SoulCycle founders Julie Rice commented that the move felt natural
and it is one of their first major collaborations: “It felt like a really
natural fit — we haven’t done a lot of collaborations before, but this one felt
like it would appeal to both of our customers."
Rice
spoke on designing the collection, stating that she believes the designs make
the wearer feel great and it also doesn't lack attitude which she thinks is a
unique aspect of the pieces: “Soul really transcends the classroom, and we
have worked hard to find a style that makes people feel good both in and out of
the room, it’s a little bit badass, so when you catch a reflection of yourself
in the mirror you feel tougher, and it’s sexy, which is a way we all want to
feel. It’s also about great fabrics and lots of comfort.”
Rive
explains that they decided to run with the concept of the 'Soul' for the
collection, using it as a major inspiration point: “When we were thinking
about the collection, we broke the ‘soul’ off of the ‘cycle,’ so all of the
pieces are about the meaning of the word ‘soul, we have a lot of plans for
SoulCycle in terms of being a lifestyle brand, and the way that we see it is
that ‘soul’ is a universal theme: Everybody has a soul, everyone wants their
soul to feel good.”
