Former 'Sex and the City' actress Sarah Jessica Parker has
designed a debut collection of footwear which will soon go on sale exclusively
at US-based luxury department store Nordstrom. She created the new line in
collaboration with Manolo Blahnik CEO George Malkemus. A first look at one
pair has now been revealed to the public as the actress gears up to unveil the
full collection - the first design is a simple patent black leather pointed
court shoe she has elegantly named 'Diana'.
Speaking on how she was inspired by her 'Sex and the City'
character Carrie, Parker commented that she learned through her famous role how
important footwear really is when it comes to style: "Carrie's love
of shoes meant I got to wear hundreds of pairs - and the more I wore, the
more I realized that they are often the starting point of the style choices we
make. Sometimes in fashion, little else matters but the shoe."
The new collection is named simply 'SJP' and Parker reveals that
she believes the new shoe line doesn't come as a surprise to many because of
how shoe addicted her character was in the hit tv show. She adds that she
believes great accessories have a story to tell and she's excited to be
involved: "In a silly way, I think it's what people have expected of
me most because of Carrie Bradshaw. It's sort of soup to nuts. You put on a
shoe and you put on a coat and you wear a bag and, on the outside, when you're
walking down the street, they really can tell the same story about
yourself."
