Being pregnant affects much your daily routine. No matter
what you do, you need to think of your baby first.
Considering the habits we mention:
Grace yourself and clean your body
Cut and fix your nail at the nail shop?
You can cut and fix your nails at the nail shop, but
remember to bring your own nail tools (nail clipper, cuticle nipper, emery
board…) to reduce the risk of being infected.
Stay away from the nail shops using too strong chemical
perfume; you should find airy places so that you don’t have to sniff up the
perfume. If you do your own nail at home, file your nails at airy places (for
example, near the windows).
Dye your hair?
All researching documents show that, dyeing hair during
pregnancy is safe (there’s no information proving the connections between dying
hair and the risk of miscarriage, preterm labor) but it’s the best to wait till
the first quarter is over, when your fetus has attached to the womb and had
less affection from the chemicals from hair dyes.
If you want to
take a bath, keep the temperature less than 37.5ºC
Soak your body in hot water, steam?
It’s absolutely inadvisable because the high temperature of
the water and the steam will affect the baby inside your belly.
If you want to take a bath, keep the temperature less than
37.5ºC.
Take a bath in the hot spring?
The same to taking a bath, please notice that the
temperature of the water must be lower than 37.5ºC.
Massage with fragrant oil?
It’s best not to do so. There’re some herbs doubted to have
bad effect on the fetus, such as dill, basil, thyme and myrrh.
Massage your body?
Before giving birth, you can have a massage. Choose the most
comfortable way of lying for you and the baby. Prop a pillow as a cushion on
the left or use a table having hole on its center that fits your pregnant (when
lying on your stomach).
Some experts think that you shouldn’t massage within the 3
first months of pregnancy, so you should ask the doctor’s opinion first.
Note: you should be careful with foot massage as it may
cause danger to your fetus.
Acne treatment?
Stay away from medicines containing Rein-A, salicylic acid
and other topical acne agents. Acne cream containing glycolic acid or azelaic is
good, but you should consult your doctor first.
Sport, exercise
Walk?
Walking is very good for pregnancy and giving birth if you
don’t have the risk of preterm labor, pre-eclampsia, placental
abruption and bleeding unusually.
Practice yoga?
Practicing yoga may be very useful when being pregnant. This
exercise calms your body and mind. You should take part in the yoga courses for
pregnant women before giving birth, but notice that some yoga posture may have
unwanted effect to the fetus (the back posture may reduce the blood flowing to
the fetus, the reverse posture should be avoided on the 2nd and 3rd
quarter of gestation).
Practicing yoga
may be very useful when being pregnant.
Practice aerobic?
Rapid prolonged heart beat due to over-exercising may
increase your body temperature. Exercising moderately, combine with resting and
drinking lots of water.
Riding a bike?
It’s fine if you do exercise with an exercise bike (the kind
of bike for people practicing exercise). You shouldn’t ride away as cycling for
a long time may cause you to lose you balance and the risk of falling is not what
everyone expects.
Food and drink
Alcoholic beverages?
The safe amount of alcohol for the fetus is currently
indefinable. So it’s the best to avoid these beverages.
Tobacco?
Smoking increases the risk of preterm labor, miscarriage, placental
abruption and low birth weight. You need to avoid passive smoking (breathing in
other people’s tobacco smoke) as much as possible.
Use the microwave?
There’s no study indicating that you shouldn’t use the
microwave while being pregnant, but pregnant women should stay away from the
microwave when it’s running.
