Turning
the body and lying comfortably in the bed may be one of the biggest wishes of
pregnant women, especially when they want to lie prostrate or supine since both
postures cause problems for them.
Feeling uncomfortable when sleeping?
In the first stage of pregnancy, chess
discomfort will make you unable to lie prostrate, and when
your belly gets bigger, lying supine make you more uncomfortable.
When you need to gain
weight in the last months of pregnant time, lying prostrate will make the total
weight of embryo put on the backbone, press on intestine and veins. It also
increases the risks of backache, hemorrhoids and bad digestion, causes
suffocation, prevents blood circulation, and can even decrease pressure.
Heartburn, constipation and cramp also cause more discomfort.
Embryo’s weight
pressurizes on vesica. As a result, you will have to go to toilet more often,
which gives a bad influence on your sleep.
During
pregnancy, you will have difficulty in having a sound sleep.
How to deal with it?
In the first stage of pregnancy, get used
to lying on your left side. This is very good for embryo’s
development since nutrients in blood will be carried to placenta easily. It
also helps the body run easily, eliminate toxics faster, and reduce the risk of
oedema.
You can put your legs
on a pillow to change posture at midnight. Putting a pillow below your calf and
another behind your back will make you feel more comfortable and relieved.
At the third stage of pregnancy, you can put on underwear
while sleeping and wear a belt for pregnant women to increase comfortable
feeling. Wear wide and airy clothes while sleeping. Cotton blouses will be very suitable in summer.
If you feel that lying on
your side pressurizes it too much, buy a soft sponge. Put it on the sheet where
you put your side so that you will not feel stuffy. Remember to choose a
suitable size and if using it in summer, you should turn on the air
conditioner.
Methods giving you a sound sleep
Always sleep at a fixed
time.
Keep room always airy
and warm in winter, cool in summer. Move electronic devices out of the bedroom
to create peaceful space. Thick curtains also help prevent light effectively so
that your sleep will not be affected.
Take a bath with warm
water before sleeping. You can ask your husband to massage your legs to
increase blood circulation, which helps you sleep more easily.

Avoid alcoholic and
caffeinated drinks such as cola, tea or coffee, especially at night.
Have dinner early with
nutritional and digestible foods. Greasy spices and foods can lead to agita,
heartburn, sleeplessness.
Exercise or join a yoga
course for pregnant women. Gentle songs without lyrics also make you get a
sounder sleep.
If you cannot sleep at
night, have lots of short sleeps at day, but do not sleep at the late evening.
Sometimes, change
bedroom to change the atmosphere. Keep your bedroom always clean to feel
comfortable.
If all things above
cannot help you, do not lie in bed. Instead of that, walk around the house,
read book, listen to music or watch TV. Relax with optimistic thoughts about
the future of your princess or prince that is about to be born.
Finally, if you are
still sleepless, the only way is consulting a doctor.
