Time to take action, October 2006
The picture below was taken on my
honeymoon. Looking at it made me realise I couldn’t go on like this anymore. I
started trying to lose weight using Weight Watchers recipes by myself at home.
It was difficult at first, but after the first four weeks, when I started to
see the weight come off. I began to feel stronger and more confident. In under
five months. I lost a whopping 3st most importantly, when Ian said that I was
looking nice, I found that I could believe him.
My
biggest
However, I realised that if I wanted to
continue shifting the pounds I would need some extra support. Although walking
through the door of my first Weight Watchers meeting and facing all those
people filled me with dread, it was the best decision I've ever made. By that
time, I was losing as little as 1/2lb a month, but once I went to meetings I started to lose a lot more -
I’d lost focus at home on my Own, and my Leader refreshed my approach and
pointed out that my portions were getting too large. I reached my goal of I Ost 3lb in just two and a half months.
My second child, Cameron, was born in
February 2009 and I gained a total of I St I I lb in that pregnancy. I returned
to my meeting in the following May and got down to 8st 7lb lighter than I’d ever been. I couldn't have
done it without the support of Ian, who even came along to some of my meetings
with me or my brilliant Leader at the time. Lee Essan. Encouragement was
exactly what I needed to finally get my weight under control.
Race for life, July 2011
Eight
months pregnant!
Feeling healthy and ready to lake on the
world, I bought a treadmill so that I could exercise and train with my sister
to run a 5K Race for Life. It was then that I fell pregnant with my third
child. Harry. But that didn't stop me! I was sensible and sought the advice of
my midwife, and I completed the race while eight months pregnant! We walked
some of the way. But we still did it in 47 minutes. I also talked to my midwife
about watching my weight throughout my pregnancy. We discussed what I would
normally eat while maintaining my weight on the ProPoints plan and they were
happy with how healthy this was, as long as I added extra calories.
Baby number three, September 2011
Confident
enough to wear bikini
After the birth of Harry, I was back in my
skinny jeans within two weeks. This was such a shock, because I have never been
someone who has lost weight easily I put on just I St 7lb this time around and.
after returning to meetings, lost it all again three months after giving birth.
I have a better figure, having had three children, than I did before. And. for
the first time in my life, I feel confident enough about my body to wear
bikinis. I can't wait for the summer because Ian and I are taking our three
boys on holiday to Turkey and I have eight new bikinis to try out!
A while ago, on a night out at a club, I
bumped into the girl who had treated me so badly at school. She was stuck in
the queue and didn't get in, while I held my head high and flounced through the
door. In that moment I felt I could finally let go of my past and look forward
to a healthy, happy future.
