Inspiration for the future

P&G, the company behind many well-known household products, is committed to finding sustainable solutions. That’s why the products in its Future Friendly programme aim to inspire and enable consumers to reduce waste, save energy and help the environment. Products such as Ariel and Fairy that meet Future Friendly standards have cut back by at least 10% on resources used in the manufacturing process or in use by the consumer. By choosing these products – and carrying out your own inspired little acts – you can become Future Friendly, too.

You could save $21 a year and 65kg of CO2 by drying clothes outside instead of using the tumble dryer.

Tips on how to be Future Friendly…

Turn your thermostat down. Reducing your room temperature by 10C could cut your heating bills by 10% - and typically saves around $74 a year!

Fill the washing machine, tumble dryer or dishwasher – a full load use less energy than two half loads.

Don’t forget to turn off the tap while or brushing your teeth. A running tap wastes over six liters a minute.

Take fewer baths! If every member of a family of your replaces one bath a week with a five-minute shower, the family could save up to $28 a year on energy bills – up to $26 on water bills if they have a water meter.

Use energy-saving bulbs. They last up to 10 times longer than ordinary bulbs, and can save you around $68 over the lifetime of the bulb (around 10,000 hours for a 20W CFC bulb).
