Since babies have learnt how to do more things, the fact that they change behaviors and love their parents less is normal. They are no longer babies waiting for being carried and embraced. Now they are able to move by themselves and have many interesting things to discover. They want to be leisure, free, and just need to be hold when missing their parents.

Babies try to learn so that they can do more things by themselves. Therefore, sometimes they will scream, get petulant, or burst into tears if their parents do things for them. Despite desiring to be get free, babies still hope to be ‘the navel of the universe’ and gain 100 percent of their parents’ notice. Remember not to run hurriedly to babies’ place when they call you. Give them a few minutes to learn how to control and solve their problems, and you will find out many surprising things.

Patience is one of the hardest lessons in life. Train your babies from now.

Parents need to give rules to their babies

When babies are 12 months old, the wide world has too many novel things that make them get interested in and want to discover. They will become very glib and naughty, so sometimes they may be at risk. Therefore, their parents’ responsibility is to give rules to them.

Give main restrictions to keep babies safe; they will understand that in this world there are always dangers they need to learn to avoid. Besides, setting up restrictions also teaches babies to communicate considerately and respect others. In brief, not everything they want is acceptable.

Instead of being strict and saying ‘no’ to babies, try to draw their attention to another safer activity. Or, give them a few choices so that they will feel they have more right to decide.

Learn more languages

At this time, babies’ vocabulary may include only a few words besides familiar words such as ‘mama’, ‘papa’. Many 1-year-old babies manage to babble short sentences in lots of tone as if they were speaking a foreign language.

Then your babies can also respond your questions and simple demands, especially when you give them some suggestions by gestures. For example, ask your baby ‘Where is your mouth?’ and then point at his mouth, or ask your child ‘Give me a cup’ and then point at the cup. The baby may answer in its own way, just using specific gestures such as shaking head to say ‘no’.

Make use of babies’ acquirement so that you can begin teaching them how to behave and help others. Emphasize words such as ‘please’ and ‘thanks’ when telling them to do something, and make their games more interesting by shifting to another new game. Though they may be unable to understand immediately, starting from now is never early.

Transition object

Maybe you still remember a close toy-friend that helped you overcome the most difficult moments at your childhood. That friend might be a blanket, a stuffed animal, or any especially meaningful object that babies love and have a strong attachment to.

Experts call this babies’ ‘friend’ ‘transitional object’ that has big influence on each stage of babies’ growth. This ‘transitional object’ is considered as a baby-sister whispering with babies, helping them ease their anxiety.

It may be not the best time to separate babies from ‘transitional object’ since for many babies this stage is the top of time when they are afraid of strangers and being away from their moms. However, certainly you are bored with seeing babies dragging blanket from one room to another, from house to floor, even to street. The following are some ways you can use to limit it from occurring.

One of the wisest methods is scheduling when babies are allowed to play with their favorite blankets. Usually, parents can let their babies play with this special ‘friend’ at these moments:

o   When babies are sleeping.

o   When babies are temporarily away from mom and dad.

o   When babies are sullen, sad or anxious.

o   After babies are fallen.

At other time of day, keep the blanket out of their eyesight.

Sleeping schedule for new days

Within 12 months (or maybe in a few months later), you will see your babies change daytime sleep. They will shift from 2 sleeps to a longer sleep. At first, they may go to bed later in the morning and then refuse to sleep in the afternoon. Or, they may sleep on time in the morning but longer.

Some babies just need one day to get used to it, but some others have to spend a few months to shift completely to a daytime sleep. You may have to wake your babies up in the morning’s sleep so that they can sleep sounder and longer in the afternoon. Woken up halfway like that can make babies feel slack at noon due to tiredness.
