That’s right... Sugar causes wrinkles.

And not just the kind of sugar you get from candy bars and soda. We’re talking about a glass of wine, a bowl of pasta, a slice of bread… even excess protein, fruit and veggies eventually turn into sugar (glucose) in the body. And if you think you can avoid ‘sugar damage’ to your skin by simply reducing your daily sugar intake... think again! So how are we supposed to keep our skin from looking old and wrinkled? Give up eating? I don’t think so!

I don’ t know about you, but I used to think the main reason we got wrinkles was because of too much sun. That’s why I stayed out of the sun when I could... wore my sunblock when I went outside… and never, ever got within fifteen feet of a tanning bed. So I ask you... “Why am I still getting wrinkles?”

That’s right... Sugar causes wrinkles.

As you can imagine, when I saw an article at the dermatologist’s office entitled “Sugar... The Other Cause Of Wrinkles,” it immediately caught my attention (frankly, I didn’t even know there was “another” cause of wrinkles). The article was all about how sugar ages your skin through a process called glycation… creating glycotoxins that produce wrinkles on even the most religiously sun screened skin. Never heard of glycation? Until now, neither had I. So stick with me for a minute. It’s fascinating.

What is glycation exactly? ELLE magazine explained it in a recent article called (what else?) “Sugar and Aging: How to Fight Glycation”: “When you have sugar molecules in your system, they bombard the body’s cells like a meteor shower - glomming onto fats and proteins in a process known as glycation. This forms advanced glycation end products (commonly shortened, appropriately, to AGEs), which cause protein fibers to become stiff and malformed… The proteins in skin most prone to glycation are the same ones that make a youthful complexion so plump and springy - collagen and elastin. When those proteins hook up with renegade sugars, they become discolored, weak, and less supple; this shows up on the skin’s surface as wrinkles, sagginess, and a loss of radiance.”

If that wasn’t bad enough, I also learned that grilling, frying, toasting and roasting foods all produce high levels of AGEs. So things like crusted breads, broiled chicken, grilled salmon, and coffee (the beans are roasted!) are all loaded with AGEs. Even granola - a health-nut staple - is an AGE double whammy, since it has lots of sugar AND it’s toasted.

Why should you worry about glycation-related skin damage? “When you’re in your teens and twenties, you can eat almost anything and get away with it,” explains SanMedica International’s™ Dr. Amy Heaton, PhD. “But as you age, your body is no longer in its peak collagen- and elastin-producing years and suffers more from the visible effects of glycation damage (wrinkles and saggy skin).”

How can you fight wrinkle-causing glycation? We can’t stop eating, that’s for sure. So it’s easy to understand why a revolutionary new, topically applied, anti-glycation compound created a huge commotion at the 9th World Congress of Cosmetic Dermatology held in Athens, Greece. That’s where research showing that this groundbreaking topical compound significantly reduced the amount of AGE content in actual human skin was presented to more than 1,000 of the world’s foremost experts in the field of dermatology. As you would expect, it stole the show.

The compound is named Theraglycan™-3, and some are already calling it “The most significant breakthrough in skin care since the discovery of Retinol!” Why? Because this was the first time a topically applied anti-glycation, “anti-aging” compound had been tested to reduce actual AGE content in human skin and make it appear measurably younger... 8-10 years younger, to be exact.

Even more impressive was the fact that the AGE-reducing benefits of Theraglycan-3 weren’t simply based on questionable subjective assessments. Instead, the AGE-reducing effects were validated using a highly formularized equation based on measurements taken by an AGE-Reader (a sensitive research instrument that uses auto fluorescence to measure AGEs present in the skin). In the studies, women used a Theraglycan-3 cream twice a day (a 2% “day” cream in the morning and a 4% concentrated “night” cream before bed). The results of the studies documented an unequivocal 8-10 year differential based on actual AGEs remaining on the skin’s surface.

Where can you find Theraglycan-3? One of the fastest growing (and most aggressive) research-based cosmeceutical companies in the world, SanMedica International, has just secured the exclusive rights to produce a Theraglycan-3 formula under the trade name GlyTerra™- gL. And, based on what I’ve heard so far, you better start looking for your supply of GlyTerra right now. The demand for this revolutionary anti-aging skin cream is going to make it very hard to find. Why? GlyTerra combines its full-strength Theraglycan-3 component with highly specialized, functional “anti-aging” isolates. So the bioactive compounds in this revolutionary formulation have been clinically shown to not only decrease the visible, age-related effects of “sugar damage,” but also block surface glycotoxin formation to help shield the skin from future glyco-damage, as well as reduce the look of fi ne lines, deep wrinkles and crow’s feet, improve the appearance of age spots, loose, droopy, flaccid skin, and - most importantly - make every-one’s complexion look healthier, more radiant, and significantly younger. Not even Retinol can do all that!

So don’t spend the rest of your life worrying about “sugar damage.” Go ahead and enjoy that glass of wine and breadstick at dinner. GlyTerra will help prevent your body from turning what you eat today into ugly wrinkles tomorrow... and that’s something we can all drink to. See you at the cosmetic counter.
