While a clean house shouldn’t have bad smells, daily activities and events like cooking, physical exercise and having pets can create a bunch of smells that are not so pleasant. Don’t try to remove it by air freshener, it just hide the smell. Define the reason of the bad smells then get rid of them step by step.

·         Baking soda

·         All-purpose cleanser

·         Bleach

·         Fresh lemon

·         Activated charcoal

·         Vinegar

·         Spray bottle

1.    Open windows in the house and leave them opened as long as possible. Ventilation is almost enough to shoo away cooking smells and others.

2.    Use baking soda to neutralize bad smells. Put a baking coda in your fridge to deodorize it. Change a new baking soda box each month. Sprinkle baking soda on the rug to remove pet’s or tobacco’s smells. Leave the baking soda there for 1 hour before vacuuming it. Sprinkling a little baking soda in your tennis shoes will help get rid of the bad feet’s smell.

3.    Regularly remove the garbage as it’s one of the most troublesome things causing bad smells in the house. Clean the garbage bin with all-purpose cleansers or the mixture of 10 parts water and 1 part bleach at least once a month.

4.    Cut a fresh lemon in half and put it in a pan of simmering water in 5-10 minutes. Lemon can neutralize fish smell or cabbage smell in the kitchen. Let the lemon cool down then rub it on your garbage bin to remove any remained smell.

5.    Remove smells by activated charcoal. Fill a plastic or glass box with activated charcoal then put it in your warehouse, basement or other areas that have moldy smells.

6.    Place bowls of vinegar around your house to neutralize the smell of tobacco and refresh the air. Leave the vinegar for 24 hours at maximum. Vinegar can also be a component of a smell neutralizing spray. Blend 1 part vinegar with 8 part water then spray the mixture in the air if necessary. Vinegar spray also has deodorant effects when being sprayed on surfaces like kitchen counters, bathroom curtains, the inside of the microwave or refrigerator. Vinegar can neutralize smells and vinegar smell is gone fast.
