Hyperactive kids often have some “strange”
symptoms but parents usually have mistaken that these are normal.
Hyperactive
kids usually have poor concentration.
For different children, some of them are
very quiet, obedient, thoughtful and don’t ask for others attention; some others
are annoying; noisy; impulsive; disorganized and have their mind confused from
one subject to another one, just like they’re a drunk in a cocktail party.
There is no clear border; it’s up to the
sympathy of the observer. It doesn’t matter what you call this condition; the
most important thing is that you should recognize and handle them correctly due
to the situation of your children.
In this program, I will describe a picture
of an extremely hyperactive kid. Many readers have kids that only have some of
these features, so there is no need to worry. This behavior is only a matter if
it makes them acquire less or behave more badly than the standard of taking
care they receive from their parents.
Hyperactive
kids normally have “unusual” symptoms which make parent confused that it’s
normal.
Some symptoms excessive hyperactive kids may have
Lack
of concentration
Kids don’t know how to listen, forget the
instructions, list and messages; easy to be distracted; can’t look attentively
at things/people; disdain to care about changes; skip every single step while
reading; not interested in upcoming disasters; engulfed in their own thought;
get lost in daydreams.
Impulsive
They run before walk; hasty; do without
thinking and are bellicose, easy to be shaky.
Never
be satisfied
They ask for things they want at all cost;
hold their point of view and want more when being rewarded; can’t learn much
from experience.
Overactive
While being a newborn, they’re very
annoying; they like to be carried in others’ arms. When they know how to walk,
they’re overactive just like being attached with a motor. When at school,
they’re restless and easy to be distracted. They like to go outside and behave
more badly at noisy, crowded and stressful place.
Do
different things
They change behavior every day; some days,
they can study well, but other days they are just as normal as when they are at
home.
Disorganized
They are confused about the left and right
side, learn how to tie their shoes or put on clothes very slowly, eat and walk
sloppily. They are not able to do 2 things at the same time, are messy, and hard
to do things in chain.
Bad
communication
They want to integrate equally but they
can’t do that because they talk without thinking, always lose things, become
hot-tempered or get mad if they can’t do anything; they will do silly stuff to
get attention from other kids.
Slovenliness
They are extremely slovenly; especially,
due to impulsion, they can easily cause catastrophe.
Lack of
self-respect
They may be like this at first, and later,
if they fail in studying, communication will be worse.
Having
language problems
They forget while talking, interrupt others
due to impulsion, are afraid of forgetting what they want to talk.
Other
symptoms
The specific problems of language: maybe
half of the children have weaknesses in reading, spelling, and calculating
ability…
Problem of sleep: insomnia and poor sleep
They are restless, hardly feel pleased, and
are unpleasant
Treat children for diseases
Parents should talk to their toddlers with
a definitive and clear voice. For hyperactive children, this is very important
because they’re not only lacking in concentration but also have problems that
affect their memory.
Communication
Before talking to your children, you should
turn down the noise around you. Turn off the TV, radio, other stuff that can
make noise and wait until the dog stop barking. First, you should call out
their name and ask them to look into your eyes. When they do that, start to
talk about things that they need to listen to briefly and fluently; use all
means of expression such eyebrows, arms, legs and body. Many women talk to
their children with a boring or lengthy voice and wonder why their children
don’t listen to them. Effective communication is not only necessary for
hyperactive children but also good for all kids and adults.
Structure
and organization
Excessive hyperactive kids have
disorganized nature and make a mess wherever they go. How illogically, these
kids can’t develop well without organization and everyone wants these kids to
be disciplined.
You need to let children know when to wake
up, what to have for breakfast, which day to go to school and which big events
to have at home that day. If you don’t notify them ahead of things such as who
visits your family, dad is going on a business, or which night you have to
sleep late, you will be in trouble. Because of children’s interests, you should
keep the routines tightly, and the more you control and organize your life, the
better it is.
For slightly older or school-aged children,
I think you should make a list of what they should do at home every day. These
are their own responsibilities, for example, cleaning the bed, feeding the cat,
cleaning the toys, and receiving mails. These help the children to develop
sense of responsibility and organization mind; encourage them to understand
their habitat.
While going shopping, take children to do
the shopping with friendly people and wait to see if they know how to talk and
communicate. This is a form of therapy for dementia or not paying
attention while hearing; at once, this will create a feeling that it’s
important and useful.
Adjusting behavior therapy
When children scream all day indoors,
parents are easily to lose control. Instead of having a good thought which is
finding out how to change their act, many people are easy to lose temper and
behave badly to children.
Excessive Hyperactive children are easy to
be injured by stress and opposition. They are very sensitive, so they will
quickly have the impression that “no matter what I do, it’s wrong”, and become
lacking in confidence and self-respect; and they will become sadder from then
on.
To avoid this, you should look at the
unpleasant things of your children with a positive view. When there is nothing
quite good at children, parents should encourage them in doing nearly good
things; and from that, encourage them. The hazard to excessive hyperactive
children is that they cause intensively negative stress indoors; therefore,
when having a peaceful and quiet moment, parents usually take advantages of
sitting down, relaxing and forgetting to encourage kids in times when they’re
obedient like that.
At 3.5-year-old period, giving compliments
and pay attention to children when they try and are obedient are the big reward
to them. After this age, using stars, toys and candy to encourage them is more
efficient.
A
safe house which is suitably adjusted for the child
This kind of house will make you less
worry. You don’t need to pay more attention to kids when you’re afraid that
they will be in danger. This is more important for excessive hyperactive kids
because you need to plan ahead to reduce negative “vibrations” and increase
positive messages.
