Lying on one side is the most suitable
position for women after caesarean section (C-section). However, within the
first 6 hours after surgery, do not lay your head on pillow.
Vaginal birth has to be very careful, and caesarean
section should be more careful, not only because of the large injury but also
because the cesarean is not good for excreting and recovering uterus.
The rate of cesarean delivery in Vietnam,
especially in big cities, is higher. Typically, women will be cut thread after
about a week and then go home. But as long as the wound has not healed, you
also have to abstain from unsuitable foods along scientific way, because the
complications occurring not only lead to pain, fatigue, but also affect the
baby.
Lie
Supine position makes you a lot of pain, so
lie on one side, put pillow behind your back, and make a 20-30 degree angle
with the bed. This position will minimize the impact on the wound, especially
when moving the body. However, you should note that the less movement, the less
you hurt.
Within the first 6 hours, your body is
still affected by drug during surgery, so you should lie straight with no
pillow to avoid headache. After this time, you should still lie on one side to have
less pain.

Early light movement
Of course you need to rest after surgery
but not too long because lochia can be stagnant in the uterus and cannot get
out, which is very dangerous. So after one day, you should move your limbs then
sit up, and get out of bed to walk. These movements also helps to promote blood
circulation, wound healing, increase peristalsis, avoid the risk of intestinal
adhesion and blood vessel occlusion.
However, within 2 months, the c-section
should avoid strong movement to not affect the wound, because after birth, the body
is still weak, especially the abdominal muscles which stretched a lot. Let your
family help with housework, and do not do it by yourself if you want to be fine
quickly. You also should not carry anything heavier than your baby's weight. Do
not go up and down stairs too much and do not drive yourself because the
handling of unexpected situations encountering on the road can affect to the
incision.
Eat light foods
You are not allowed to eat within 6 hours
after surgery because under the effect of the drugs used in surgery, your bowel
is very low, intestinal tract contains a lot of gas, and stomach operation is
weak. So food will be very difficult to digest, causing bloating, constipation,
fatigue, long recovery.
After this period, you can eat soft, liquid
food. Radish soup dish is good to release gas in the intestines, increase
peristalsis. Do not use more sugar, flour or soy products because they cause
flatulence. Just do not eat fish because it is not good for blood clotting
after surgery and makes the wound recover slowly.
Constipation and bloating often persist
after surgery 3-5 days due to the effects of anesthesia, so you should drink
plenty of water to quickly eliminate them. Do not drink cold water.

Wound care
Please "behave" the wound as your
doctor advises. Don’t apply anything on it and do not remove all the tape or
try to compress too tightly, because all these things can cause infection. Take
care of your health to avoid flu because then the resistance decreases and the
risk of infection increases.
Call your doctor immediately if wound pains
a lot even when not moving or looking pink, swollen. Body temperature should be
measured regularly, if it is over 38 degrees C, it is very likely you have
inflammation (wound cannot sign anything special, but in the womb can), so you
need advice from doctor immediately.
