Deodorizing diaper pails will bring your room a fresh smell while reducing the number of bacteria in it. Do as the followings to clean the pails with some cheap items.

Things you’ll need

·         Diaper pail

·         Plastic bag

·         Household cleanser

·         Vinegar

·         Rubber glove

·         Disinfectant

·         Baking soda

Instructions

1.    Place a plastic bag in a clean diaper pail. It’ll be effective to one-time-use diapers and cloth diapers. The plastic bag size should fit the pail. Double the plastic bag if one is so thin.

2.    Clean the pail daily. Tie the bag and take it away (if it’s one-time-use diaper). To cloth diapers, take the diapers out to wash then throw the plastic bag away. Do it one per 2 days if the pail is big enough to contain the number of diapers of 2 days.

3.    Clean every hard trash in the pail. Use paper towels or cloths to clean the pail in wet condition.

4.    Bring the pail to the bathroom and clean it with household cleansers. Make your own cleanser with water and vinegar. Equal the amount of water and vinegar.

5.    Wear rubber glove when cleaning the pail. Use cloths or paper towels.

6.    Clean the inside of the pail then leave it dry.

7.    Spray on the entire of the pail a disinfectant.  

8.    Add baking soda in the bottom of the pail for deodorizing. The baking soda should cover the bottom of the pail.

9.    Place a new plastic bag in the pail.

10.  Add some baking soda in the plastic bag. Do it once when the pail is empty and again when the pail is half-full.

Tips and warnings

·         Consider about buying deodorant for the pail. Some pails have slots to store things like that. You should use citrus scented deodorant.

·         Add 2 fabric softener pads to help deodorize the pail.
