Pregnancy is the time women become incredibly sensitive. Refer to the following things to make sure that you don’t make them nervous or hurt them.

Those who have been through pregnancy or even those who have close relationship with pregnant women know that pregnancy is the time women get extremely sensitive and emotional (or excited) by anything.

Here are the worst things you could have talked to a pregnant women, so consult these to avoid making them nervous or hurt.

1.    Why is your belly too small/big?

At mild level, these comments can make pregnant women unhappy about their appearance. At more intense level, pregnant women will worry whether something may go wrong?

If you say that her belly was too small, she will think that “Will my baby have low birth weight when he comes to this world?” Or, if you say that her belly is too big, she will always have in her mind the worry of stretch marks… Therefore, you should never comment about the belly size of a pregnant woman!

2.    “I can’t understand how the baby’s head can get through…”

To be honest, no one can truly understand about this – except for the doctors. And pregnant women may not want to talk or think about that until it actually becomes a problem they have to talk about.

3.    “Are you sure that you’re not pregnant with twins?”

Maybe your idea is that her belly is too big? And if her belly is too big to the extent that you have to give her that kind of question. At this time, she’s pretty sure about how many babies she is having. That’s kind of impolite question to anyone who is pregnant.

4.    “Do you want to have a coffee? How about 9 o’clock?”

If you want to take pregnant women out of the meetings with friends, it’s not good to hold them late at night, as everyone knows that sleeping early is good for pregnant women; and a coincidence is that most pregnant women always want to sleep.

Therefore, if you want to ask her out, arrange your time so you both can meet earlier; if you can’t, you shouldn’t ask her.

5.     “Does it sound nice to name him the name you want to give to the baby?”

To a pregnant woman, she has to take the pressure, burden of naming her child. Of course, if you have good intention as you just want to give a name for her reference; however, you should put yourself into her position, what will it feel like if each one gives you one (or several) names and you have to continuously refuse to each because you simply don’t like it?

6.    “Are you about to go out for dinner? Try to enjoy all of it!”

If you say so, there’s no difference as you say “you will never be able to go to anywhere!” Most pregnant women hope that the day their baby comes to this world in such enthusiastic and exciting manners, they don’t want you to make them lose their inspiration by such things. And, in fact, there’re lots of young pregnant women having dinner out together.

7.    “OMG, that’s not a girl/a boy?”

If a woman getting pregnant, and they have baby gender prediction test, then she knows that the fetus has the same sex with the baby she has already have, many people will be disappointed. The truth is that there’s nothing to disappoint about that, whether that’s a boy or a girl, that’s her child, and she will live her child regardless of the gender. Instead of putting more pressure on the mind that’s essentially sensitive, the least thing you can do is to be happy on welcoming the new baby with her.

8.    “OMG, twins? You’re going to be incredibly busy!”

Having a baby itself is very tired and busy, and with 2 babies she will be busier – this is the fact that everybody knows. So, do you need to emphasize this to make her more stressful and unable to handle anything? Encourage and try to be happy as she’s going to have 2 adorable little angels at the same time – isn’t that wonderful?
