Hot baths or sauna is one of useful ways to
help pregnant women relax and reduce pain effectively.
However, specialist doctors advise you
should not abuse sauna because high temperature of steam and water make body
temperature increase and harm the development of babies.
Sauna
In that way, bathroom has lots of hot water
making body temperature increase. That is not safe for pregnant women,
especially in the first 3 months of pregnancy.
Although sauna is also useful for body to
be relaxed comfortably, remove toxicant out of the body via sweat discharged
through widening pores; for pregnant women, discharging sweat too much can
cause dehydration and hypotension.
Hypotension is very dangerous for fetus; it
makes blood provided for babies decrease. You can recognize this symptom by
dizziness. If this condition continues happening, it’s easy to lead to
miscarriage or stillbirth.
Pregnant
women should not take sauna.
Have a bath with hot water
The same as sauna, having a bath with hot
water is also “culprit” causing increase in body temperature.
However, you can also relax with having a
bath in condition that temperature of water is adjusted to 1040F,
equivalently 400C, and do not soak the body too long in water
because soaking with this temperature just about 10 – 12 minutes can make your
body temperature be up to 380C.
Furthermore, when body is soaked under hot
water, it’s is difficult to dissipate heat via sweating.
You should take a bath with hot water in
short time - about 10 minutes - to ensure safeness for both mothers and babies.

Have a shower with warm water
It is a safe way for pregnant women, but you
need to check the temperature of water before using, and be sure that water’s
temperature does not exceed 1000F, equivalently 37.50C.
Moreover, you also should not take a shower
over 15 minutes with warm water because that is not good for the development of
babies.

Note that pregnant women, in many ways,
should not keep body temperature exceeding 1020F, equivalently 380C,
because if temperature is too high, it will harm babies especially in the first
months of pregnancy.
Particularly, do not have a bath with hot
water and sauna in the first 3 months of pregnancy.
There are many methods to help pregnant
women relax and reduce pain such as practicing yoga, massaging, and taking a
shower with warm water at home.
